background overview

On October 17, 2016, the Jiamusi Military District organized a highly targeted, combat‑oriented forest firefighting drill aimed at testing the military's capabilities in rapid response, ground‑air coordination, and application of high‑tech equipment in dealing with major forest fires under complex terrain and harsh conditions.

Based on its successful experience in numerous major emergency rescue operations, CHENGDU TIMESTARS CO., LTD., at the request of the military district, participated in the drill with its TIM‑series UAV system, providing critical aerial technical support to the military's ground forces:

UAV Aerial Monitoring Platform: Long-endurance, high-stability industrial-grade UAV serving as the core aerial node.

Dual‑sensor reconnaissance payload: Simultaneously equipped with a high‑definition visible light camera and an infrared thermal imager to cope with thick smoke from forest fires and complex lighting conditions.

Real‑time video transmission and positioning system: Transmits reconnaissance data back to the forward mobile command post in real time, and has the capability to precisely locate fire points and personnel positions.

Effectiveness

1. Achieved full situational awareness of the fire scene, solving the problem of "inability to see through"

The TIM UAV overlooked the fire scene from high altitude, rapidly creating an overall situational map of the fire, allowing commanders to clearly grasp the direction of fire spread, the location of fire heads, and the burned area. Its infrared thermal imaging system could penetrate thick smoke to accurately identify main fire points and hidden smoldering fires, providing precise guidance for troop deployment.

2. Guided precise actions of ground forces, improving firefighting efficiency and safety

Through real‑time video, the UAV planned optimal advance and evacuation routes for ground troops operating deep in the fire scene, effectively avoiding dangerous areas. At the same time, through precise positioning of fire points, it guided firefighting forces to conduct precision strikes.

3. Conducted post‑fire assessment and monitoring to prevent re‑ignition

After the open flames were extinguished, the UAV used its infrared function to conduct a carpet‑style inspection of the entire fire scene for residual fire points, identifying smoldering spots that were difficult for the human eye to detect, and directing troops to thoroughly clean them, effectively eliminating the possibility of re‑ignition.

During the Jiamusi Military District forest fire drill, CHENGDU TIMESTARS CO., LTD.'s UAV system not only solved the traditional command dilemma of "inability to see and judge" in forest fires, but also significantly improved the military's firefighting efficiency and operational safety through technological means. It proved that TIM products can meet the military's high standards and practical combat requirements for non‑war military operations.
