background overview

On August 3, 2024, due to continuous heavy rainfall in Ganzi Prefecture, Sichuan Province, flash floods and mudslides broke out in multiple locations, resulting in road disruptions, communication outages, and people trapped. Rescue operations faced severe challenges including complex geographical environments, harsh weather conditions, and lack of disaster information.

Following the disaster, the technical team of CHENGDU TIMESTARS CO., LTD., carrying its "Air‑Space‑Ground Integrated" emergency rescue system, rushed to the disaster area, with the following equipment as the core deployment:

The TIM‑series industrial UAVs, equipped with high‑definition visible light cameras and infrared thermal imaging cameras, were used for daytime reconnaissance and life search and rescue at night or in adverse weather conditions respectively.

1. Rapid full-area survey and disaster assessment

UAVs quickly took off and conducted large-area aerial scanning of the disaster site, rapidly identifying key hazard locations such as road damage, submerged houses, and blocked river channels. This provided the command center with a first-hand, comprehensive disaster assessment report, indicating the main direction for rescue efforts.

2. Precise search and positioning to support life rescue

Using infrared thermal imaging technology, UAVs were able to search for trapped or missing persons at night, in dense fog, or in vegetated areas by detecting body heat sources, providing precise location guidance for rescue teams and improving search and rescue efficiency and success rates.

During the August 2024 flash flood and mudslide rescue operation in Ganzi Prefecture, CHENGDU TIMESTARS CO., LTD.'s "Air‑Space‑Ground Integrated" system once again demonstrated its high adaptability and core value across different types of disasters, effectively overcoming the limitations that complex terrain and harsh weather impose on traditional rescue methods, and providing critical technological support for protecting the lives and property of the people.
