At 21:19 on August 8, 2017, a 7.0-magnitude strong earthquake struck Jiuzhaigou County, Aba Prefecture, Sichuan Province. The shallow focal depth resulted in strong destructive power, causing landslides, road disruptions, and damage to communication facilities in the scenic area and surrounding regions. A large number of people were trapped, and rescue operations faced multiple severe challenges including aftershocks, landslides, and the loss of traffic and communication links.。

Immediately after the earthquake, CHENGDU TIMESTARS CO., LTD. activated its emergency response, and its technical rescue team, carrying equipment, rushed to the disaster area as soon as possible following the quake.
1. Rapid disaster assessment
UAVs quickly conducted aerial surveys of key roads leading to the core disaster area, rapidly identifying blockage points and massive landslides caused by the earthquake. This provided accurate imagery for transportation authorities to assess road conditions and formulate road restoration plans.
2. Full-area search and disaster assessment
UAVs carried out wide-area patrols of remote villages and scattered residential areas that were difficult for personnel to reach quickly, comprehensively assessing building damage and geological hazard risks. Meanwhile, infrared thermal imaging technology was used to search for signs of life at night or in the rubble, providing precise guidance for ground rescue teams.
3. Ensuring the safety of rescue teams
In the dangerous environment of continuous aftershocks and unstable slopes, UAVs served as "safety sentinels," reconnoitering the advance routes of rescue teams in advance, assessing the stability of roadside slopes, promptly identifying landslide risks, and issuing early warnings, effectively protecting the lives of ground rescue personnel.
